A pride of yester years...

and an antique piece for today.

Yes, This is a radio. A National radio had been an item of pride, something like "Neighbour's envy, owner's pride", some 35 years ago!!

I found this antique piece at a rural hotel near Janapada Loka, Ramanagara :)

I have a similar radio at home. I remember that we used to tie an antenna across the room for good/clear audio reception.
Once, were offered an excellent sum from a collector of antiques, but refused to part with it.
I use it sparingly these days; but the sound system (speakers) is still great!

@Vani: Yes, you are right. We must make some time and visit Janapada Loka to get back in time. Its just less than an hour's journey away from Bangalore.

You're most welcome to drop by and listen to the melody on my ancient radio!
There is absolutely no trouble in getting FM channels:) Remember, we used to tune in to Radio Ceylon, Voice of America and BBC back in those days!
