Ramanavami is the nine'th day of Chaitra masa (First month of Hindu calendar), marked as the birth day of Sri Rama, the legendary prince who won the hearts and the Utopian King who ruled India. Epic depicting his story, Ramayana is considered to be the first ever epic written on the planet, and is considered to be a holy book for Hindus.
