Posted by Srik (Bengalooru, India) on 1 January 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture.

A traditional Indian art of picturing on body. This is done using a specific leave called Mehandi leaves crushed with a part of lime water and other decorative material. The solution is then pasted on the body using a small match-stick.

Mehandi is usually drawn on hands and/or legs.
And this is a must in marriages, most of the times, only for brides.

The essence of Mehandi stays for a few days.

On some occasions, there are compititions conducted for the Mehandi drawing across India. Its very popular and considered to be sacred across India. Hindus and Muslims both draw the Mehandi.

With this note, People, Wish you a great year ahead.
